July – August Holiday Trip: Introduction (Sticky)
Alis, Francesca, and I have just returned from the holiday trip of a lifetime. After two months and many adventures we are finally home from the most extensive holiday that we have ever had.
We have been to a small part of Japan including Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara and a wonderful onsen in the mountains north west of Nikko. We have been to Thailand and Chang Mai. We have been to Australia and visited Sydney and Wauchope then travelled south to Melbourne and Adelaide. We then traversed Australia from Adelaide to Darwin visiting many well known and not so well known places before flying to Brisbane. We then returned to Bangkok for two days and hence home to Mandello del Lario.
During our travels we re-connected with many old friends and connected with many new friends all of whom have made our trip enjoyable. A special thanks to our relations and friends who offered us hospitality along the way.
Unfortunately for various reasons, mainly related to time or timing, we could not connect with everyone we would have liked to. For those we missed we hope to see you again soon.
In the coming days we will set up a sort of retro-blog of our travels with a limitted number of photos from the hundreds we have taken. Also we will do some special items relating to specific parts of our journey, for example an item on onsens, and another on things to beware of in Bangkok. I may skip around a bit and publish some things out of order so please forgive any confusion that this may cause.
In addition I will set up some useful links relating to various places and or people we have visited.
Please note that the posting dates displayed will be the actual dates that we were in the places described however the items will all be actually published 2 months after the event. For example this introduction is posted on September the 8th but is dated July 2

Hi Peter,
I’m so happy for you, finding a wonderful new episode to your life. Your holiday and life sound fantastic and well deserving.
I’m riding down to the MotoGP in a couple of weeks, which I’m quite looking forward to.
Hopefully we can catchup next time you’re here, or if manage to get myself over there.
Best regards,
